Why Germany won’t win worldcup 2022 ?

The Germans, who have won four World Cups and finished runners-up four times, are now entering FIFA World Cup 2022 tournament to retain their title once again. However, can they really win the World Cup this time? I don’t think so, because I think Germany Won’t Win Worldcup 2022.

Despite having an abundance of talent on display the German squad of World Cup 2018. They failed to muster up any highlighting performance in the tournament.  As a result, they were knocked out in the World Cup 2018 in the group stages matches only.

Currently, the announcement of Germany’s World Cup 2022 player is just a few months away.  Likewise, Hansi Flick moved one step closer to that ultimate 26 with his choice for the June Nations League matches with Italy, England, and Hungary.

There are several famous players in the squad, notably national team mainstays Thomas Muller, Manuel Neuer, and Ilkay Gundogan, as well as Antonio Rudiger and Joshua Kimmich.

Nevertheless, some of the reasons why Germany won’t win Worldcup in 2022 are discussed below.

Reasons why Germany won’t win Worldcup 2022:

Aging Players

First and foremost, one of the primary problems lies in aging players. Unfortunately, the aging players slow down the team just a little bit. With Thomas Muller at CF, it is guaranteed to have a slower build-up play.

Similarly, it is obvious that Muller, Jonas Hofmann, Marco Reus, and Neuer are all getting older and are no longer at their peak. Despite having young and great players available for selection, Hansi Flick chose them, and the results are evident.

However, they have more talented and pacy players in the midfield such as Jamal Musiala and Anton Stach who frequently obtains excellent rating for their performances in every game.

Unfortunately, Germany still selects experienced but slow players who are not able to keep the pace and energy.

They were indeed the players who won the 2014 World Cup in Russia. However, it is time to move on because that was a history and now certain changes is needed.

Choosing Neuer over Ter Stegen:

The worst decision Germany has made and continues to make is to select Manuel Neuer instead of Ter Stegen. First and foremost, look at the age difference, Neuer is currently 36 years old while Ter Stegen is 30.

Ter Stegen has the capacity to excel in the highly competitive league, but the Bundesliga has only one monarch, Bayern Munich. The goalkeeper currently plays far better than Neuer, although still, Flick prefers Neuer, who is declining at a quicker rate.

The Goalie, Ter Stegen has the potential to become a pillar for Germany, but Flick must give him more opportunities for doing so.

Stronger Opponents than ever

Germany’s current FIFA ranking is 11, which is not a good one. Their ranks should be higher after viewing their talented youth and teams’ ability. Though, it is not because of their dismal performance in the 2018 World Cup.

Following that, this time the competition is much higher than the previous competition. Teams such as Argentina, Spain, and England are on the next level. In fact, Argentina did not lose a single match during World Cup 2022 Qualifiers.

Similarly, the second strongest group is Group E (Spain, Germany, Japan, and Costa Rica).  However, football fans are also referring to this group as the “Group of Death”.

Germany will be facing some of the big teams before qualifying from the group stages. I hope what happened in World Cup 2018 does not repeat this time.

Tactical Problem

One of the most serious issues confronting Germany is its formation. Their 4-2-3-1 style has resulted in a lot of victories, but it’s time for them to try something fresh.

Timo Werner and Kai Havertz accustom to fast-paced games on their teams. Germany’s national team is set up on aggressiveness and ball retention. They do not specialize in rapid tiki-taka style, but rather in strategic passes and ball management.

Germany now has no good CDM, so they must change positions. It is also vital to choose players for specific positions, something Joachim Low also did not do well during the 2018 World Cup.

Previously, Germany recorded three consecutive 1-1 tie against their three opponents during the Nation League game in June 2022.

Furthermore, four of Germany’s last six games were tied, and Germany only won two of them. This obviously shows that their formation requires modification.

However, Germany still has more potential, but they must adapt their style of play to a new manner of playing football. If not! there will be a risk of getting ruthlessly knocked out by a stronger squad.

Other Reasons:

Not a Great Attacker and Poor Finishers

The attacking line appears to be the German coach’s most pressing concern. The Germans are without a center forward because Chelsea’s Timo Werner is injured, and teammate Kai Havertz is not a box striker.

Similarly, Muller is not as fast as he was earlier. Similarly, Muller is not as quick as he once was. Despite this, Marco Reus will have to establish his fitness following a string of injuries.  Likewise, the defender Mats Hummels has a remote chance of making the country’s World Cup roster.

All the Inspections shall immediately conclude in the summer with the Nations League. Since Flick cannot risk reaching the final stage of World Cup training with more setbacks.

Similarly, if we look at Germany’s last ten games, we can see that they have only 7.6 shots per goal. However, they have 56.8 percent of dangerous play and 126 attacks. Germany also has a power rating of 56. These are not particularly impressive figures when compared to teams like Argentina and others.

Ego Clashes

Some feuds can arise due to the bad choice of player selection for the world cup 2022 squad. Since young players are performing well for their respective clubs, they are not getting a chance to showcase their talent for the national side.

Following Germany’s poor performance in the June 2022 Nations League games, they should explore engaging more youth players. Experience is meaningless if they are not as quick and determined as other teams.

There might be some dissatisfaction among the young players. Despite performing very well, out-of-form senior players are given the green light in the squad.

Ter Stegen is having a fantastic season with FC Barcelona. Despite this, he will be on the bench due to Neuer, who is getting older and slower. This can lead to a serious issue regarding playing time.

Lack of Team leaders

Germany is noticing the void left by departed seniors such as Phillip Lahm, Miroslav Klose, and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

However, older players like Muller and Neuer are still unable to fill their positions and inspire the team as leaders. As a result, the entire squad ultimately paid the ultimate price in 2018.

Several people have stated that the lack of true rivalry in the Bundesliga leads to boredom in the German Squad.

Rather than just blaming, the German Football Association must move on by training the youths.  Also, the veterans should put their egos aside and allow the youngsters to come to the surface.
