MMA fighter Valentina Shevchenko was born on 7 March 1988 in Frunze, Kirghizia, USSR. She grew up in a Ukrainian family, but she describes herself as Russian.
Her father is Anatoly Shevchenko, who served in the Pacific Fleet of the Soviet Navy for three years during the cold war and played for the Kyrgyz national football team. Her mother, Elena Shevchenko is the president of Kyrgyzstan’s national Muay Thai association. Elena was also a former multiple-time Muay Thai Champion.
